Lynn McLain

    Capturing the Abstraction in Realism


    Lynn lives and paints in the beautiful village of Tres Ritos, New Mexico. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture from Texas Tech University in 1971, and has been painting and teaching watercolor professionally since 1978. In his art, although painted realistically, he captures the abstract forms that exist in nature and in our environment. His teaching objective is not only to share his blessing, but to impart a better understanding of drawing, design, seeing subject matter, use and confidence of the watercolor medium and how to have fun with watercolor. 

    Lynn is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, Southwestern Watercolor Society, New Mexico Watercolor Society and the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies. He is also a member of the Taos National Society of Watercolorists, as well as member/founder of the Wet Brush Critique Group in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His work has been published in several magazines, books and has been exhibited nationally, winning numerous awards. Also his work is included in several noteworthy collections.
